About Manny Diaz
Manny Diaz is the head coach at Duke. Before joining the Blue Devils, Diaz was the defensive coordinator at Penn State. Diaz also served as the head coach at his hometown University of Miami. Diaz was named head coach after Mark Richt's sudden 2019 retirement. He went 21-15 leading the program after spending three seasons on the Hurricanes staff as defensive coordinator. Diaz had been a defensive coordinator previously at Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State and Texas. He originally got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Florida State, in 1998. After working under legend Bobby Bowden for a year, he left with Chuck Amato to serve on the coaching staff at North Carolina State. Diaz has a unique background outside of football as well. His father, Manny Diaz Sr., is the former longtime mayor of the city of Miami.
