About Luis Polonia
Luis Polonia had a prosperous 12 year major league career, playing for six different franchises. He won two World Series titles, one with the Atlanta Braves in 1995 and one with the New York Yankees in 2000. Polonia was a consistent bat and threat on the base paths, collecting 1,417 hits and stealing 321 bases. In just his second season, he went to a World Series with the Oakland A’s. Polonia was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He spent his offseasons plus several post-retirement years in the Dominican League playing for Aguilas Cibaenas and set several all-time records. In his native country, he is known as the “Atomic Ant”. Currently, he operates the Polonia Baseball Academy in Santiago.
