About Lo Van Pham
Lo Van Pham has made history as the first Asian American official in NFL history. Pham has an amazing story, being born in Laos after his family had fled fighting in Vietnam. He spent time as a refugee as a child before being settled in Amarillo, Texas. After graduating with his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and pursuing a master's at the University of Colorado, Pham yearned to get on the football field and began officiating pee-wee games.
Pham eventually got to referee high school games in West Texas before moving into college football. He did all this while still working as a project manager for a construction and engineering firm. In 2019, Pham got the chance to join an NFL developmental program for officials. He was one of the inaugural season officials for the USFL in 2022 and later that year was announced as a side judge by the NFL.
