About Kevin Willard
Kevin Willard is the head men's basketball coach at Villanova. Willard previously had a three-year run as the head coach at Maryland, leading them to a 27-9 record and Sweet Sixteen in his final season.
Willard was tapped to guide the Terps after a successful 12-year run at Seton Hall. The Pirates went to the NCAA Tournament five times under his watch, including four in a row from 2016-19. They also were the Big East regular-season champions in 2020 when the NCAAs were canceled due to COVID-19.
In 2016, Willard was named the conference Coach of the Year and Seton Hall won the prestigious Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden. He left with the second-most wins in school history.
Willard had previously spent three years as the head coach at Iona, winning MAAC Coach of the Year in 2010. He started in the coaching profession as an assistant under Rick Pitino with the Boston Celtics and at Louisville. Willard played college basketball at Western Kentucky and Pittsburgh.
