About Kevin Mitchell
Kevin Mitchell pitched in the big leagues for 14 seasons and was a two-time All-Star outfielderwhile playing for the San Francisco Giants from 1987 to 1991. In 1984 he finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .277 and belting 12 homeruns in 108 games. In 1989 he was named the National League MVP and earned a Silver Slugger Award after hitting .291 with a league leading 47 homeruns and 125 RBI. That season he also scored 100 runs for the first time in his career. He followed his MVP season up by hitting 35 homeruns in 1990 and earning his second consecutive All-Star selection. In 1986 Mitchell reached the height of MLB accomplishment when he helped the Mets to a World Series title. During his 14- year career he played for eight teams including the Mets, Padres, Giants, Mariners, Reds, Red Sox, Reds, Indians and Athletics and retired in 1998 with a career .284 average and 234 homeruns.
