About Kent Benson
Kent Benson is one of the legends that the aura of Indiana Basketball is built on. Benson was the man in the middle for the 32-0 1976 Hoosiers national championship team. That season, he was named the Helms Foundation Player of the Year and the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Benson also earned the first of two consensus first-team All-American honors. He was also on the team as a sophomore that went 31-1 and lost in the Elite Eight. As a senior, Benson was named Big Ten Player of the Year before the Milwaukee Bucks took him with the top pick in the 1977 NBA Draft. Overall, he played 11 NBA seasons. He is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Indiana University Athletics Hall of Fame.
