Kenny Lofton

Kenny Lofton dazzled baseball fans for 17 seasons. Lofton was a six-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner in centerfield. Throughout two stints with the Cleveland Indians, he played a total of nine and a half years and was a consistent presence at the top of the lineup. Lofton won six division titles with the Indians, went to the World Series in 1995, and was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2010. He went to the postseason 11 times and was often signed by different contenders in the offseason who were looking for a final piece to chase a championship. In an era dominated by home runs, Lofton kept people thinking about speed on the basepaths. He led the American League in stolen bases five times and has the record for most postseason steals. Lofton actually played baseball sparingly at the University of Arizona, but was a basketball star. Baseball people still took notice of the tremendous athlete that made him one of his era’s best players.
