About David Eckstein
David Eckstein played 10 seasons in the big leagues with the Anaheim Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres from 2001 to 2010. Prior to heading to the big leagues he played at the University of Florida and earned first-team All-SEC honors in back-to-back years in 1995 and 1996. During that time he was also a standout performer in the classroom and earned SEC All-Academic honors three times while leading the Gators to a third place finish in the 1996 College World Series. For his performance at UF he was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame as a Gator Great in 2007. During Eckstein’s time in the big leagues he was named an All-Star twice in 2005 and 2006 and earned two World Series rings as a member of the Anaheim Angels in 2002 and St. Louis Cardinals in 2006. A testament to his style of play, he was awarded the inaugural winner of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association’s Heart & Hustle Award in 2005.
