Keith Byars

Keith Byars was a tailback for The Ohio State Buckeyes where he came in second in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1984.  Byars was voted to the first-team All- American unanimously and voted the Big 10 Conference MVP.  In the following season Byars fractured his foot and was out of the running for the 1985 Heisman Trophy.  Bears was drafted to the Philadelphia Eagles as a fullback and tight end for six years.  1993 was his first year with the Miami Dolphins and also the year he was selected to the Pro Bowl.  He stayed with the Dolphins for three years until the New England Patriots picked him up for the 1996 and 1997 seasons.  While with the Patriots he appeared in Super Bowl XXXI where he caught four passes for 42 yards and a touch dow, which was quite impressive for his age at the time.  In his last year in the NFL Byars signed with the New York Jets and unfortunately let his season end with a fumble in the AFC Championship game which cost the Jets the game.
