Keely Hodgkinson

The English middle-distance runner Keely Nicole Hodgkinson has quickly become one of the world's top athletes. Keely Nicole Hodgkinson was born on March 3, 2002 in Atherton, Greater Manchester before starting her athletic career in the heptathlon before moving to the 800 meters. Great Britain's Keely Hodgkinson has established herself as a top competitor in her event through her strategic racing style and powerful finishing sprints.

Hodgkinson became the second-youngest British woman to win an Olympic medal when she took silver in the 800 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics while breaking Kelly Holmes' British record from 1995. She won silver medals at both the 2022 and 2023 World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She has won two European Championship titles (2022 and 2024) and two European Indoor Championship titles (2021 and 2023). She also holds the world indoor best for the 600 meters.

Hodgkinson won her first Olympic gold medal in the 800 meters at the Paris Games in 2024 when she finished with a time of 1:56.72. Hodgkinson became the first British woman since Kelly Holmes won the Olympic 800m title in 2004. Dame Kelly Holmes described her as "unstoppable" after her performance.

Hodgkinson holds the 800 meters personal best time of 1:54.61 which she achieved in London during 2024 making her one of the fastest women in history. Under the guidance of Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows she trains at the elite Font-Romeu training base in the French Pyrenees to prepare for major international competitions.

Hodgkinson has become a fashion star and a well-known public figure in the UK while competing off the track. The BBC Sports Personality of the Year award went to Hodgkinson in 2024 because of her achievements in sports and her wider influence.
