Kari Miller

Kari Miller was born in Newark, New Jersey and graduated from Cardoza Senior High School in Washington, D.C. After high school she joined the military and was involved in a tragic car accident that resulted in her losing both her legs. However, despite the adversity she continued to be successful and eventually took up the sport of sitting volleyball. In 2007she earned a spot on the USA Paralympic Team and helped the stars and stripes to a silver medal at the Sitting Volleyball Invitational. In 2008 she helped the USA to a bronze medal at the WOVD Sitting Volleyball World Championships and a silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Beijing. The following year she earned a gold medal as a member of the USA’s Eurocup team, and also won gold at the Parapan American Zonal Championship. Since that time she has won Gold Medals at the 2011 ECVD Continental Cup, 2011 Parapan American Zonal Championship and 2012 Volleyball Masters. In 2012 she was a member of the USA’s silver medal team at the London Olympic Games. Miller is a testament to resiliency, perseverance, dedication and honor, and has represented the United States with pride and distinction both in the military and in Paralympic competition.
