Kaleigh Gilchrist

Kaleigh Gilchrist has achieved elite status in two sports by becoming famous for her accomplishments in water polo and surfing. She won consecutive USA Under-18 Surfing Championships in 2009 and 2010 while representing the USA Surf Team in multiple ISA World Championships and guiding Newport Harbor High School to CIF water polo victory in 2008.

During her time at the University of Southern California (2010–14) Gilchrist studied Communication while pursuing a minor in Occupational Science. The Trojans water polo team won the 2013 NCAA Championship under her leadership as co-captain and she became USC's second-leading scorer with 142 goals while earning multiple All-American awards.

The U.S. Women's National Water Polo Team welcomed Gilchrist in 2014 as she became a vital member of their dominant period which included Olympic gold medals in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 as well as four World Championship titles (2015, 2019, 2022, 2024). The Tokyo games saw her score seven goals while she added five goals to the Paris tournament before Team USA finished fourth in 2024.

The balcony collapse at the World Championship in South Korea during 2019 caused Gilchrist serious injury but she used the nickname “The Mamba Mission” to describe her determined path back to Olympic success.

Gilchrist dedicates her time to entrepreneurship and mentoring activities outside of competitive sports. She co-founded Camps4Champs to support young female athletes while launching the lifestyle brand “I Miss South Central” and writing and speaking about mindset and teamwork and living boldly.

Through her three Olympic appearances Gilchrist demonstrates her ability to adapt while showing remarkable determination and natural leadership skills. She maintains professional surfing while using her clinics and speaking events and community work to inspire athletes and serve as an example of excellence in and out of the pool.
