About John Rocker
John Rocker played five major league seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998 to 2003. During that span he was one of the most polarizing and entertaining players in the league. He got his start in pro ball after being selected by the Braves in the 18th round of the 1993 MLB Draft out of First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia, where he threw three no-hitters. After five seasons in the minors he earned a call-up to the big leagues, and eventually became the closer for the Braves. In 1999 he tallied 38 save and posted a 2.49 ERA in 74 appearances, making him one of the top relief pitchers in the game. During his four years with the Brave she posted a sparkling 2.63 ERA in 2010 appearances with 83 saves and 259 strikeouts in 195.1 innings. Since his retirement in 2003 he has pursued a successful career in the entertainment industry, making appearances on such popular shows as Pros vs. Joes and Survivor. Rocker released his autobiography, Scars and Strikes in 2011, and currently writes a column for WorldNetDaily. In 2013 he was named the director of public affairs for Save Homeless Veterans.
