About John Flaherty
John Flaherty played 14 big league seasons and over 1,000 games. Flaherty was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 1988 MLB Draft. He debuted for the Red Sox in 1992. One of the more signifcant stretches of Flaherty's career was with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He played for the squad from 1998-2002, being a catcher on the squad during their inaugural season. Since retiring from the game in 2005, Flaherty has worked in broadcasting for the last team he played for, the New York Yankees. He works on YES Network telecasts. In 2008, Flaherty was elected to the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame.
