About John Carlson NHL
John Carlson has spent his entire NHL career as a defenseman for the Washington Capitals. With the Capitals, Carlson has gone to the playoffs five times. The franchise originally drafted him 27th overall in 2008 and he made his NHL debut in 2009. That same season Carlson was named an All-Star while with his minor league team the Hershey Bears in the AHL. He also played two USHL seasons with the Indiana Ice and a season with the OHL’s London Knights. In his one season with the Knights, Carlson scored 76 points and was named team MVP. The Natick, Massachusetts native competed for Team USA at the 2014 Olympics and scored the first American goal of the tournament. He also competed for the U.S. as a junior and won the gold at the 2010 World Junior Championships.
