Joe Philbin

Joe Philbin earned his undergraduate degree in sociology while playing football at Washington & Jefferson College in 1984 and went on to earn his graduate degree in education and administration from Tulane University in 1986 while serving as a graduate assistant football coach for the Green Wave. After earning his degree he joined the Worcester Polytechnic Institute coaching staff and then signed on as an assistant at the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 1988 to 1989. Upon joining the Allegheny College coaching staff as the offensive coordinator in 1990 he helped lead his team to National Championship in his first season. He’d go on to coach at Ohio, Northeastern, Harvard and Iowa from 1994 to 2002 and then made the jump to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers in 2003. From 2003 to 2011 he served as the offensive line coach, tight ends coach and offensive coordinator for the Packers and helped lead them to a Super Bowl Championship in 2011. After the 2011 season he was hired as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, and has since helped them to 23 wins and top three finishes in the AFC East in three consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2014.
