Joe Maddon

Joe Maddon is back where his baseball career began as the manager of the Los Angeles Angeles. Maddon played baseball and football at Lafayette College and played minor league baseball in the Angels organization before beginning a 31-year career with the franchise as a minor league manager, scout, coach and minor league hitting instructor. During that time he won 279 games in the minor leagues and served as a coach and manager for the Angels big league team from 1993 to 2005, helping them to a World Series title in 2002. In 2006 he was hired as the new manager for the Tampa Bay Rays and completely turned their organization around. Two years after taking over at the helm he helped the Rays to an American League Championship and World Series appearance in 2008. He was also named American League Manager of the Year in 2008 and 2011 while tallying 754 wins in nine seasons. In 2015 he was hired by the Chicago Cubs and immediately won National League Manager of the Year honors. The following season, Maddon led the Cubs to their first World Series crown since 1908. He continued to have success, posting three more winning seasons in Chicago before rejoining the franchise that launched his career in pro baseball. With his unorthodox managing style and endearing personality, he has always been considered an overwhelming fan favorite among major league managers.
