About Tony LaRussa
Tony LaRussa is a former player and the current manager of the Chicago White Sox. Tony began his career as a player for the Oakland A's. He made his debut in 1963 and went on to play until 1973, but injuries during that span of time relegated Tony to just 132 total games. After his playing career, Tony went to school and earned a Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University College of Law a year before becoming the manager for the Chicago White Sox. While there he was named Manager of the Year for his first time, an award he won three more times later in his career. LaRussa then spent some time as the manager of his former team, the Oakland Athletics, but then became the manager of the St Louis Cardinals, the position he is best known for. He became an integral part of making the Cardinals a perennial contender, including winning two of three World Series to Tonys credit. His impact was second to none, and his number 10 has since been retired and Tony is now a member of the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
