JJ Hardy

JJ Hardy was selected in the second round of the 2001 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Sabino High School in Tucson, Arizona. While at Sabino he was a three-time All-State selection and earned All-American honors in 2001. Prior to signing with the Brewers in 2001 he played on the U.S. Junior National baseball team and helped the red, white, and blue to a silver medal in Edmonton, Canada. He’d go on to represent the US again on the U.S. Olympic Qualifying team in 2003. That same year he made an appearance in the MLB All-Star Futures Game. In 2005 he made his MLB debut with the Brewers and has since become one of the top all-around shortstops in the big leagues. In 2007 he earned his first All-Star selection after posting a .277 average and launching 26 homeruns. He’d go on to join the Minnesota Twins in 2010 and then head to Baltimore where he’s since starred for the Orioles. From 2012 to 2014 he earned three consecutive Gold Gloves at shortstop and a Silver Slugger and All-Star selection in 2013. After the 2014 season he signed a three-year, $40 million contract to remain in Baltimore through 2017.
