About Jim O'Brien
Jim O’Brien has been the head coach of the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Indiana Pacers. In his nine seasons as a head coach, O’Brien’s teams made the playoffs three times. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, but retired in 2013. O’Brien got his start as an assistant coach in the college ranks and also was a head coach at Dayton. The Flyers went to the NCAA Tournament once in his four seasons there. O’Brien became well known as an assistant coach for Rick Pitino at Kentucky and with the Celtics following his time at Dayton. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native was a three-year starter at St. Joseph’s. O’Brien is the son-in-law of Hall of Fame coach Jack Ramsay.
