Jessica Mendoza

Jessica Mendoza played both basketball and softball during her days at Adolfo Camarillo High School in Los Angeles, California. In 1998 she was named the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year in softball and was twice named MVP of the Camarillo High basketball team. She went on to star at the Stanford University, earning NCAA First-Team All-American honors in softball in four-consecutive years. After four years at Stanford she held career records in batting average, hits, home runs, slugging percentage, runs scored and stolen basses. She was also named Stanford Athlete of the Year three times and graduated with her masters in social sciences and education. In 2004 she earned a starting spot on the US National Team and went on to help the red, white and blue to a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. In 2008 she returned to international competition and helped Team USA to a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. After the 2004 Olympics she joined the National Pro Fastpitch league and played several years with the Arizona Heat and USSSA Pride. Since that time she has signed on as a broadcaster and color analyst at ESPn during the Women’s College World Series. She also works as an analyst on Baseball Tonight and serves as a sideline reporter during MLB games.
