ESPN Signs Jessica Mendoza to a Multi-Year Contract Extension

There is no question that Jessica Mendoza is one of the rising stars at ESPN and, fortunately, she is sticking around for a while. The Worldwide Leader in Sports signed the former Team USA softball star to a multi-year contract extension last week.

As part of the agreement, Mendoza will continue in her roles as an analyst on Sunday Night Baseball and as the lead analyst for the network's coverage of the Women's College World Series. She will also make more appearances on signature ESPN studio shows like Baseball Tonight, SportsCenter and GetUp!.

Mendoza conveyed in a release the excitement she has getting the opportunity to further her broadcasting career.

“I’m beyond excited to continue to work as a baseball and softball analyst at ESPN," said Mendoza. "The support I’ve received at ESPN is incredible. I look forward to continuing to help grow the sports of softball and Major League Baseball through our second-to-none coverage by utilizing cool technology, offering exciting insights, and doing it all with passion.”

Mendoza is the first woman to ever be on the broadcast team for nationally televised Major League Baseball games. She became a full-time Sunday Night Baseball analyst in 2016 after a trial period in 2015.

Mendoza is considered one of the greatest softball players of all-time. She holds several hitting records at Stanford University, where she was a four-time All-American.

Mendoza went on to help Team USA win an Olympic gold medal in 2004 and silver medal in 2008. She also spent several years playing professionally in National Pro Fastpitch.

Mendoza is the former president and currently serves as a trustee for the Women's Sports Foundation. It was recently announced that she will be a member of the National Softball Hall of Fame's class of 2019.
