About Jeremy Guthrie
Jeremy Guthrie is a man of many talents. After earning the rank of Eagle Scout as a kid he played basketball, football and baseball at Ashland High School in Ashland, Oregon and graduated as his class’s high school valedictorian. After high school he continued his baseball career at Brigham Young University before ending up at Stanford University, where he led his team to a College World Series championship appearance in 2001. The Cleveland Indians selected Guthrie in the first round with the 22nd overall pick in the 2002 MB Draft. He signed a pro contract with the Indians later that fall for a reported $4 million signing bonus. Two years later he made his MLB debut with the Indians, and went on to pitch for the Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals. During his first full season with the Royals in 2012 he won 15 games in 33 starts, and was an instrumental member of the Royals 2014 World Series team. He retired in 2017 and currently serves as president of the Texas Houston South Mission of the LDS Church.
