About Jeremy Affeldt
Jeremy Affeldt is one of the most reliable setup men in recent baseball history. After a 14-year career, Affeldt retired in 2015, but his impact was undeniable. He particularly gained great acclaim for postseason heroism during three World Series title runs with the San Francisco Giants. Affeldt recorded a 0.86 ERA in 31.1 playoff innings and had a 22 inning scoreless streak for the Giants. That stretch marked the second longest scoreless stint in postseason history next to the 23 innings pitched by theNew York Yankees' Mariano Rivera. Affeldt spent seven seasons in San Francisco and won This Week in Baseball's Setup Man of the Year award after his first season. He was originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals out of high school and spent his first five seasons with the club after being called up in 2002. He also pitched for the Colorado Rockies and the Cincinnati Reds.
