Jennifer Suhr

Jenn Suhr is the gold standard when it comes to the pole vault, the Olympic gold standard to be precise. After earning gold in the women’s pole vault competition at the 2012 Olympic games in London she became the No. 1 competitor in the world, and has remained at the top spot through 2014. Suhr is a native of New York and was a four-sport letter winner at Fredonia High School, playing basketball, softball, soccer and running track. In 2000 she won the New York State pentathlon title and earned a scholarship to play basketball and run track at Roberts Wesleyan College in New York. While playing basketball at Roberts Wesleyan she averaged 24.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 2003-04 in route to leading her team to the NCCAA National Championship game. After finishing her career with a school-record 1,819 points she began focusing solely on track. From 2005 to 2014 she won eight golds at the USA Outdoor Championships and seven golds at the USA Indoor Championships to go along with a silver medal at the 2008 World Indoor Championships, a silver at the 2013 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
