About Jemile Weeks
Jemile Weeks is a sunshine state native and played his college ball at the University of Miami. After leading the Hurricanes to a College World Series appearance in 2008 he was selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Oakland Athletics. Over the next three seasons he proved to be one of the top prospects in all of baseball and earned a call-up to the big leagues midway through the 2011 season. During his first major league season he posted a stellar .303 average with 26 doubles and 22 stolen bases for the Athletics. He’d go on to play his first three seasons in Oakland before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2014 and then landing with the Red Sox at the end of the year. Weeks spent the 2015 season in Boston before joining the San Diego Padres for 2016. One of the crowning achievements in his baseball career came in 2006 when he helped Team USA to a gold medal at the World University Championship in Havana.
