JD Gibbs

Jason Dean Gibbs is an American athlete who is most famously known for his talent in racecar driving but is also recognized for his collegiate football career. Born in 1969 in Los Angeles, California, Gibbs father was the assistant football coach at the University of Southern California at the time of his birth. He relocated to several different states throughout his childhood before settling in Washington D.C. and attending The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. While his father was the coach for the Washington Redskins at the time, Gibbs was pursuing a collegiate football career at William and Mary. After graduating from college, he was employed at a racing team his father had started known as Joe Gibbs Racing. Gibbs fell in love with the sport, possibly more so than football, and began racing competitively, starting with the NASCAR Camping World East Series. In 1998, Gibbs became the president of his father’s team. He competed in his last competitive race as a driver in 2000. To this day, Gibbs still holds his presidency at Joe Gibbs Racing.
