About James Outman
James Outman is an American Major League Baseball Player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He grew up in Northern California’s Bay Area and was a dual-sport athlete in baseball and football, where he played linebacker and tight end. In high school, Outman hit .305 with a .508 slugging percentage. He went on to play college baseball at Sacramento State University, batting .249 with 23 home runs and 99 RBI over three seasons.
The Dodgers drafted him in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Outman bats left and throws right. He excelled at the minor league level with Triple-A Oklahoma City before making the Dodger’s Opening Day roster in 2023, finishing the season with 23 home runs, 70 RBI, and 16 stolen bases in 151 games. He would win NL Rookie of the Month honors in April and August, finishing third in overall Rookie of the Year voting.
