Jamaal Charles

Jamaal Charles is a retired running back, who starred for the Kansas City Chiefs. Before entering the NFL in 2008, Charles could most often be found in Texas. Born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1986, he went on to attend Port Arthur Texas Memorial High School and the University of Texas. Prior to becoming a Longhorn, Charles was a two-time recipient of the Willie Ray Smith Award, which is given to the southeast Texas offensive MVP and also excelled tremendously in track and field. In fact, Charles even won a bronze medal at the 2003 World Youth Championships in Athletics in the 400 m hurdles. While he was not as passionate about track as he was about football, Charles went on to become a Heisman Trophy recipient at the University of Texas and ultimately to be selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Chiefs. Charles was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, the FedEx Ground Player of the Year, AFC rushing leader and Chiefs rushing career leader, along with the NFL career leader in average yards per carry. He retired with over 7,000 yards rushing, 2,500 yards receiving and 64 total touchdowns.
