Greg Pruitt

In 1984 Greg Pruitt’s NFL dream came true when the Cleveland Browns selected him in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft. It was the culmination of years of hard work that began when he was an undersized kid growing up in a tough Houston, Texas neighborhood. In college he led a powerful University of Oklahoma offensive attack with his speed and vision at the running back position and would ultimately end up ranked third on the Sooners all-time all-purpose yard list. He played the first nine seasons of his NFL career in Cleveland and became one of the top 100 players in the history of their franchise, earning four of his five Pro-Bowl appearances and leading the Browns in rushing as a dynamic force on the offensive side of the ball. In 1982 he made his way to Oakland and helped the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory before retiring in 1984. Pruitt was honored in 1999 with induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
