About Greg Maddux
In 2014 Greg Maddux took his rightful place among the best baseball players in history when he was enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Widely considered to be the best pitcher of his era, Maddux played 23 seasons in the big leagues and became the first pitcher in history to win four consecutive Cy Young Awards, a feat he accomplished from 1992 to 1995. Over the course of his historic career he won a major league record eighteen Gold Glove Awards, earned eight All-Star selections, led the National League in wins four times and Earned Run Average four times. During his 11 seasons with the Atlanta Braves from 1993 to 2003 he helped lead them to a World Series Championship in 1995 and 10 National League East championships. In 2008 he retired as the only pitcher in MLB history to post 300 wins and 3,000 strikeouts with less than 1,000 walks. Currently Maddux serves as the special assistant to the general manager of the Texas Rangers.
