About Chipper Jones
When Chipper Jones retired in 2012 after 19 years with the Atlanta Braves he took with him a legacy of greatness. His .303 career batting average is tops all-time among switch hitters. His 1,623 RBI tops all other third baseman in Major League Baseball history, and he is one of only 21 players in history to post 1,000 or more extra base hits, 2,500 or more hits, 500 or more doubles, and more than 1,500 RBI in a career. For his production on the field, he is a shoe in for the Hall of Fame one day, but in the hearts of those in Braves Country, he’s already there.
Not many players become a face of a franchise, but as Yankee legend Derek Jeter said, when you think of the Atlanta Braves, you think of Chipper Jones. A country boy from sunshine state, Jones rose to stardom in 1995 after a stellar rookie season and never turned back. During his time with Atlanta he captured eight All-Star selections, two Silver Slugger Awards, an NL Batting Title and the 1999 NL MVP Award.
Jones is the Braves, and when he’s not hunting, golfing and hanging out with is four young boys, he can often be found taking in a game in Braves Country, showing his appreciation for the fans that love and respect him so much.
