George Brett

George Brett is a retired professional third baseman, designated hitter and first baseman in MLB. Brett comes from a sports-minded family and has an older brother who was a Major League pitcher and two other brothers who were in the minor leagues. Brett hoped to follow in his brothers’ footsteps and play professional baseball. He attended El Segundo High School where he played baseball. The Kansas City Royals selected Brett in the 2nd round as the 29th overall pick in the 1971 Baseball Draft. Brett was assigned to play in the minor leagues with four different teams. On August 2, 1973, Brett was promoted to play for the Royals. In 1974, Brett won the starting third baseman job, but he struggled at the plate. He played his entire career with the Royals and he retired in 1993. In his career, Brett was a 13x All-Star, 3x Silver Slugger Award winner, 3x AL batting champion, World Series champion, AL MVP, ALCS MVP, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
