Gegard Mousasi

Gegard Mousasi is a mixed martial artist and kickboxer. Mousasi began his training in judo at eight years old and at 15, he began training in boxing. When he was 16 years old, Mousasi became the amateur boxing champion of the Netherlands. He then moved to kickboxing and later mixed martial arts. Mousasi signed with Pride FC in 2006 so he could participate in Pride’s Welterweight Grand Prix. Mousasi announced on January 15, 2013 that he would be moving to UFC. In his mixed martial arts career, Mousasi has fought in a total of 42 fights and has won 35 of them. Mousasi’s kickboxing career began in 2008 when he agreed to take on K-1 fighter Musashi in a K-1 rules fight at Dynamite!! 2008. Mousasi has competed in 8 kickboxing matches and he has won all 8 of them. It was announced in January 2011 that Mousasi was interested in trying out for the 2012 Summer Olympics in boxing, but after suffering an injury and signing a new contract, Mousasi lost interest in the Olympics.
