About Freeman McNeil
Freeman McNeil is a retired NFL running back who spent 12 seasons in the league with the New York Jets. Prior to his time in the NFL, McNeil attended UCLA, earning two All-Pacific 10 honors and playing well enough to be drafted in the first round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. For the next 12 seasons, McNeil would be referred to as one of the league’s top rushers, rushing for over 8,000 yards and 38 touchdowns. His play would be good enough to earn three Pro Bowl selections in 1982, 1984, and 1985, along with three All-Pro selections those same years. At the time of his retirement, McNeil was the Jets leading rusher, and is still ranked second to this day after being passed by Curtis Martin. Due to his contributions to the team, McNeil was inducted into the New York Jets Ring of Honor, and is considered one of the best running backs in Jets history.
