About Fred Hoiberg
Fred Hoiberg is a former NBA and college basketball coach, who currently serves as the head coach at Nebraska. He led his alma mater, Iowa State, to four NCAA Tournament appearances in five years. Hoiberg also spent parts of four seasons as head coach of the Chicago Bulls. Prior to his time as a coach, Hoiberg played collegiately at Iowa State and 11 seasons in the NBA as a shooting guard. In his 11 professional seasons, Hoiberg played for the Indiana Pacers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, and was known primarily as a deadly three-point shooter. In 2005, Hoiberg underwent surgery on his sinuses, and retired after a failed comeback bid later that year. For four years after his retirement as a player, Hoiberg served in a front office role with the Timberwolves, reaching a vice president role before leaving in 2010 to become head coach at his alma mater of Iowa State.
