About Fred Hickman
Fred Hickman is a sportscaster who currently works as sports director for WVUE in New Orleans. Hickman is a graduate of Coe College, earning a B.S. in sociology. In 1977, Hickman got his start in radio as a news anchor in Iowa, working for various radio companies until signing on to work with TBS in 1980. With TBS, Hickman worked for the CNN sports network, rivaling ESPN’s SportsCenter with nightly sports highlight shows. In 2001, Hickman joined YES Network, becoming their lead anchor and hosting various New York Yankees telecasts. In late 2004, Hickman joined ESPN to become an anchor on SportsCenter and a contributor to Baseball Tonight, ESPN Classic, and many other shows. Five years later, Hickman left ESPN to work with Fox Sports in Atlanta for two seasons, working mainly with the MLB’s Atlanta Braves. Most recently, Hickman signed on to be the sports director for Fox Sports South in New Orleans, a position he currently holds today.
