Emily Sonnett Biography

Emily Sonnett is a player for the United States women's national soccer team. Sonnett originally debuted for the senior national team in 2015. She entered the professional ranks the following year, being selected with the top pick by the Portland Thorns in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. Sonnett has starred for the Thorns ever since, winning a championship in 2017 and being named to the NWSL Best XI in 2018. She played college soccer at the University of Virginia and won numerous awards. Sonnett was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the 2014 College Cup and won ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors the following season.
