About Ellen Weinberg-Hughes Weinberg-Hughes
Ellen Weinberg-Hughes is a trailblazing multi-sport athlete, and key figure in USA Hockey. A standout defenseman, she starred at the University of New Hampshire, captaining championship teams (1987, 1990, 1991) and earning all-star honors. She helped pioneer women's hockey internationally, winning silver with Team USA at the 1992 IIHF Women's World Championship. Also a college soccer and lacrosse star, she later broadcast the 1998 Olympic women's gold and ran skills programs. Since 2023, as a player development consultant for the U.S. women's team, she has contributed to their 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic gold medal. She is the mother to NHL stars Jack, Quinn, and Luke Hughes.
