Drew Pomeranz Biography

Drew Pomeranz is a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. In his first full season with the Red Sox in 2017, he had a breakout campaign. Pomeranz went 16-6 with a 3.38 ERA and helped Boston win the American League East Division. He was originally traded to the Red Sox midway through the 2016 season after making his first All-Star team. He had posted a 2.47 ERA over baseball's first half with the San Diego Padres. The Padres acquired Pomeranz in a trade with the Oakland Athletics before the season. He spent two seasons as a spot starter with the A's. Pomeranz originally came up to the big leagues as a starter with the Colorado Rockies in 2011. The Cleveland Indians selected him in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft and he was immediately considered one of baseball's top prospects.
