About Doug Wilson
Doug Wilson had a Hall of Fame career as a player and almost an equally successful run as a general manager in the National Hockey League. He is currently the general manager of the San Jose Sharks. Wilson has been associated with the Sharks organization since they acquired him as a player for their inaugural 1991 season. He became the franchise's first captain, first All-Star and played his 1,000th career game in aSan Jose uniform. Wilson played the first 14 of his 16 NHL seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. He was named to seven All-Star teams while in Chicago. Wilson was considered one of the best defensemen during his time in the league and won the 1982Norris Trophy. He ranks 15th in league history among defensemen in career points. Under his leadership as a general manager, the Sharks have made it to the Western Conference Finals four times and appeared in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final. During his tenure, San Jose ranks second in points and wins in the NHL. Rutherford is a member of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame and the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.
