About Desmond Jennings
Desmond Jennings passed up a contract offer by the Cleveland Indians out of high school to play football and baseball at Itawamba Community College. During his freshman season he led all junior college receivers with 54 receptions on the gridiron and then took his talents to the diamond and impressed with a .378 average and 29 stolen bases. With his athleticism clearly on display he won over MLB scouts and earned a 10th round selection by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006 and took them up on the offer. Over the next five seasons he sharpened his skills in the minor leagues and became one of the Rays top prospects. In 2011 he made his highly publicized debut and played with the franchise through the 2016 season.
