About Denard Span
Denard Span is an outfielder for the Washington Nationals that has made a great impact at the top of their lineup since joining the team in 2013. Span tied for the National League lead in hits in 2014 and led the NL in triples in 2013. In 2013, he had a league-high 29 game hit streak. In addition to his prowess at the plate, his center field defense has also been applauded. Prior to his time in Washington, Span spent his first five seasons with the Minnesota Twins. He hit .284 during his time in the Twin Cities. The Twins originally selected him with the 20th overall pick of the 2002 MLB Draft. Span played his high school ball at Tampa Catholic in Florida, but was born in Washington D.C., making him right at home with the Nationals.
