David Falk Biography

David B. Falk stands as a leading American sports agent who reshaped the way athletes get represented in the sports industry. Falk originated from Long Island New York before obtaining his economics degree from Syracuse University and his law degree from George Washington University. Falk started his career at ProServ in 1974 before becoming vice chairman at the sports management firm. Falk Associates Management Enterprises (FAME) became his new venture in 1992 when he established the company to deliver specialized representation services to NBA superstars.  

Michael Jordan's representation by Falk brought him fame because Falk negotiated historic endorsement deals that transformed athlete marketing. Through his work Falk obtained Jordan's Nike endorsement deal which led to the development of the Air Jordan brand and secured major contracts with Gatorade McDonald's and Hanes. Falk represented more than 100 NBA players while securing record-breaking contracts for Patrick Ewing and Danny Ferry and Alonzo Mourning. The professional sports world witnessed its first $100 million contract when Falk negotiated it for Mourning in 1996.  

Falk sold FAME to SFX Entertainment for $100 million during 1998. Falk joined the SFX Board of Directors and Office of the Chairman after the company acquired FAME in 1998 until his departure in 2001. Falk relaunched FAME in 2007 as a boutique agency which focused on working with a limited number of clients.  

Through his agency work Falk has developed substantial educational contributions in the field of sports. The David B. Falk Center for Sport Management at Syracuse University received his endowment in 2008 while the Falk Academy of Management and Entrepreneurship at George Washington University received his endowment in 2011. 

Through his business activities Falk has created various influential ventures. Falk has maintained board positions at Sapphire Brands while making investments in Marquis Jet Golf GCX Partners and Relevad Media Group.
