About Dave Doeren
Dave Doeren got his start in big time college basketball as a player at Drake University from 1990 to 1993. After college he was hired to coach wide receivers and the defensive line at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kansas. Eventually he headed back to Drake as the linebackers coach and became the defensive coordinator in 1997. From 1998 to 2010 he served as an assistant at USC, Montana, Kansas, and Wisconsin before being hired as the head coach at Northern Illinois in 2011. During his two-years at Northern Illinois he led them to back-to-back Mid-American Conference titles and consecutive bowl games with a combined record if 23-4. After the 2012 season he was hired as the new head coach at NC State. During his first two seasons he has completely turned the Wolfpack program around, helping them to eight wins in 2014 and an appearance in the St. Petersburg Bowl, where they won with an impressive victory. Under his leadership the NC State football has returned to relevance in the ACC, and will continue to win as the years progress.
