About Dathan Ritzenhein
Dathan Ritzenhein was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and set numerous state and national records in the 1600-meter, 3200-meter and 5000- meter while running at Rockford High School. In 1999 and 2000 he won back-toback regional and national titles in the Foot Locker high school championships, and he went to win a bronze medal at the IAAF Junior World Championships. When it came time to head off to college he chose the University of Colorado. During his time at Colorado he led his team to the NCAA And Big-12 cross-country national championship and was named the USTFCCAA NCAA Division I National Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2003. In 2005 he won the USATF 12K Cross-Country championship and then went on to win the U.S. Cross-Country Championship in 2008. Since that time he’s continued to perform, winning numerous national and world championships in long distance events, including a bronze medal at the 2009 Birmingham World Half Marathon Championship.
