About Dawn Harper
Dawn Harper is a gold medal hurdler from East St. Louis, Illinois. Prior to her successful career as a pro track and field athlete she broke the Illinois State record in 100m hurdles and won six IHSA State Championships before heading to UCLA on a full scholarship. While at UCLA she became a two-time All-American and won the sprint hurdles at the US Junior Championships and Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. In 2008 she made her first USA Olympic team and captured gold at the Beijing Olympic Games in the 100-meter hurdles. The following year she won her first United States National Championship in the 100-meter hurdles and went on to capture a silver medal at the 2009 IAAF World Athletics final. After a knee injury kept her out of much of the 2010 season she returned in 2011 with a vengeance and captured a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in the 100-meter hurdles. In 2012 she captured a silver medal at the London Olympic games, making her one of the most decorated hurdlers in United States Olympic history.
