About Gail Devers
Gail Devers is a retired Olympic track and field athlete who represented the United States in multiple World Championships and the Olympic games. A star runner in high school, Devers trained for multiple events, making her Olympic debut in 1988, but failing to medal. For the next few years, Devers would fight Grave’s Disease, making it almost impossible for her to walk, let alone run, but she was able to defeat the disease and get back to training for the 1992 Olympic Games. At these games, Devers won the gold medal in the 100 meters in a photo finish, giving her the first of three Olympic gold medals. For the next several years, Devers would compete in various international tournaments, bringing home gold medals from World Championships, World Indoor Championships, and other tournaments. Devers would go on to compete for several years, and still was an active competitor in the mid-2000s. Following her retirement, Devers was honored by being placed into multiple Hall of Fames, and is considered one of the best Olympic runners in United States team history.
