About Dan O'Brien
Dan O’Brien is a decathlete who competes in various international tournament and competitions while representing the United States. O’Brien grew up in Oregon as an adopted child, eventually graduating from the University of Idaho. As a member of the Vandals’ track and field team, O’Briend would go on to finish second at the 1990 Goodwill Games. In 1992, O’Brien entered the Olympics as the favorite to win the decathlon event, but a disaster qualifying round kept him from placing on the United States Olympic Team. O’Brien would quickly bounce back, winning a gold medal at the 1993 and 1995 World Championships, eventually making his way back to the Olympics, this time winning the Gold medal in the decathlon event. O’Brien is now a member of the United States Olympic Hall of Fame, and is a nutritionist coach for many star athletes today.
