About Bobby Jackson
As a college player, legendary coach Bobby Bowden has said that Bobby Jackson was one of the greatest all-around players he had ever coached. Jackson that began a career as a football coach in 1965 when he joined Bill Petersons staff at Florida State University. Jackson stayed in college football until 1982 serving as both a defensive and offensive assistant coach for numerous teams. In 1983, Jackson joined the Atlanta Falcons as a linebacker coach and stayed in the NFL for the next 21 years. Throughout his NFL coaching career, Jackson coached for 6 different teams in various roles and was the offensive coordinator three different times. Jackson is best known for his ability to coach running backs, a position that he thrived at as a college player. Coach Jackson helped produce some of the NFLs premier running backs such as Marshall Faulk, Stephen Davis, and Terry Allen. After retiring in 2003, Jackson came back to coach for one year with the Miami Dolphins in 2007, helping the Dolphins running backs average 4 yards per carry for the season.
